Victoria Flamenco Music Intensive Shows!

Experience world-class flamenco right here in Victoria! The Flamenco de la Isla Society and Alma de España are thrilled to present 2 Flamenco “Tablao” shows, back-to-back at The Mint Restaurant.

Both shows will feature Gareth Owen, Victoria’s own world-class flamenco guitarist, accompanied by international guest artists Vicente Griego, powerhouse flamenco singer from Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Davide Sampaolo, rhythm master and flamenco percussionist from Vancouver/Rome along with local singers and dancers.

The Early Show (doors 4:00 pm / show 5:00 pm) also features local artists: Jake Lee – guitarist, Veronica Maguire – singer, Denise Yeo and Estelle Kurier – dancers, and Bethany Murphy – palmera.
The Late Show (doors at 8:30 pm / show 9:30 pm) also features local artists: Jake Lee – guitarist, Jan Bate – singer, Lia Crowe and Carolyn Crampton – dancers, and Denise Yeo – palmera.

Enjoy the excitement and passion of live flamenco in an intimate setting. The Mint’s delicious Himalayan cuisine and cocktails will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

The 9th annual Flamenco Guitar Night features Gareth Owen, Juan de Marias, Jake Lee, and Iminah Kani.

Flamenco de la Isla Society founded the Flamenco Guitar Night in 2016 as a forum for Victoria’s finest guitarists/composers to showcase their latest original creations and share their talent with Victoria. This year’s stellar lineup features guitarists: Gareth Owen, Juan de Marias, Jake Lee, and Iminah Kani accompanied by local flamenco singers Maria Storzer and Juana Bate, and palmera Denise Yeo.. It promises a night of breathtaking performances that spans the flamenco spectrum of guitar and song artistry. Flamenco Guitar Night brings together Victoria’s leading flamenco guitarists to exchange musical inspiration and creativity on the stage!

In a special evening of solos, duets, and accompaniment of flamenco singing, experience the diverse styles of each flamenco guitarist, culminating in a fin de fiesta all-in jam session!

Join us for Victoria’s the 9th Annual Flamenco Guitar Night, a celebration of the soul of Spain, right here in the heart of our city.

There’s one more thing! Keep your eyes wide and ears open to catch the flamenco pop-ups on Saltspring Island, in downtown Victoria, Esquimalt, and Oak Bay! Flamenco could pop-up anytime during the Victoria Flamenco Music Intensive – July 16 – 27.
